Child-friendly theory

Ensuring every child and youth enjoy a happy childhood and adolescence, with equal access to their rights in urban and community settings, enabling them to fully unlock their potential. Applied to our products, it means offering children freedom in clean, safe environments to play and unwind. Our design ethos revolves around listening to children's voices, addressing their needs, priorities, and rights. Being child-friendly goes beyond mere equipment installation; it involves understanding children's physical and emotional requirements within urban landscapes, fostering play, and seamlessly integrating these experiences into their daily lives. This approach enhances safety, fosters inclusivity, and promotes fairness, benefiting individuals of all ages.

Parent-Child Bonding

Parent-child bonding is a crucial need in the growth process of children. Through parent-child bonding, not only can stronger and more loving family relationships be established, but it also contributes to the holistic development of children's physical and mental health. In our process of designing products and amusement parks, we encourage parent-child participation through the scale of the products and guidance on gaming methods, fostering deeper parental involvement in their children's play experiences. This encourages interaction, shared joy, and facing challenges together, providing a high-quality and more profound bonding process.

Age-Specific Needs

During childhood and adolescence, each phase spans three years, marked by significant psychological and physiological differences that result in diverse needs. These needs must be adequately met through games and services in the playground.

Ages 0-6: This period is crucial for the development of tactile, vital, motor, and balance senses. Psychologically, it's a sensitive period for language development, laying the foundation for basic abstract thinking and self-confidence. Games are essential for developing coordination, basic physical skills, and stimulating sensory development.

Ages 6-12: This stage is vital for language development, self-awareness, auditory skills, and gradual cognitive development. Psychologically, children in this stage enjoy being with peers, dislike supervision, and have a strong thirst for knowledge. Games are essential for satisfying their exploration, adventure, and self-awareness development.

Ages 12-18: As sensory abilities reach optimal levels, this stage marks the gradual shaping of physical capabilities. Psychologically, teenagers in this stage enjoy sports with peers, have established a considerable sense of independence, and crave equal relationships with adults. Games are vital for physical development, social training through sports, and enhancing self-awareness and confidence through competitive games.

Game Evaluation Model

JEGO introduces a cognitive assessment framework from children's education into game product design. This framework encompasses three main areas: cognitive abilities, non-cognitive abilities, and physical fitness, guiding how to anticipate children's sense of achievement in games during the design process. We break down these three main areas into 10 elements of ability values, including "observation and thinking, creativity and imagination, sensory perception, common sense wisdom, willpower, cooperation and social skills, empathy and sharing, peace and optimism, focus and patience, and physical fitness and kinesthetic awareness". These elements are used to comprehensively evaluate game settings, filtering out game formats that are most beneficial for children's physical and mental development.
